Accessibility Fundamentals

Learn the benefits of accessible data visualizations, how to design accessible visualizations, and how to check your visualization is accessible.

What’s this course like?
  • This course is pretty comprehensive, which is why it's broken up into two hours each day for three days.
 
  • Each course is approximately two hours long and is led by seasoned trainer, Emily Kund. 
 
  • Delivered virtually, via Zoom (can make arrangements for an alternative if your company blocks Zoom).
 
  • The course consists of instruction, practice activities, and a quiz to apply what you've learned.
 
  • A Digital badge is available for those who successfully complete a pre-assessment (completed, no minimum score required), attend all three days, complete a graded practice activity (earned a ‘pass’ grade), and a quiz (75% pass score required).​​

Day 2: Designing accessible data experiences

  • How to ask is someone needs an accessibility adjustment

  • Recommendations by dashboard component

Day 3: Assessing data visualizations for accessibility
  • How to begin assessing data experiences
  • Review framework and checklist
  • Tools to help

About the instructor

Emily Kund has two decades of training experience and over a decade of working in the data space. She's known for helping people go from confused to confident. Emily has trained people in the private and public sector and loves to help those who are new to the data, analytics, Tableau, and accessibility fields. She is a member of INFORMS and the IAAP.
